Why wait to go on your vacation until after the big day? The new hot trend, engagement vacations! Grooms-to-be are opting to sweep their unknowing brides off their feet by getting down on one knee and proposing in a beautiful destination. You can go over the top like Will did when he popped the question to Kate in Kenya back in 2010 or more subtle like whisking her away to a big city for the weekend. The most important part is choosing a destination that is meaningful to you as a couple.

Here are a few of my tips to help make your Engagmentcation a trip of a lifetime:
1) Keep the Bling Safe!
Since you are traveling outside of your comfort zone you’ll definitely want to have the appropriate insurance especially if you plan on doing an adventurous proposal, like while you’re skydiving!
2) Plan, Plan, Plan
If you feel like you can’t handle this special moment on your own, hire an event coordinator, or see if the hotel you are staying at offers packages. This will help to ensure your proposal runs smoothly!
3) Smile for the Camera
If you’re sentimental like I am, hire a videographer and/or photographer to capture the moment. It’ll be a great keepsake that you’ll have forever!
4) Take a breath!
This is your best friend and the person you are planning to share your life with. Enjoy your vacation, be in the moment, not so focused on the events to come. Stay calm!
Remember you can’t plan everything but you can certainly try! So go relax, have a drink (or a few) and plan your next vacation or maybe after reading this an Engagmentcation!
