Each marriage carries it’s own DNA and today, let’s celebrate the couples that have stayed the course and celebrate milestone marriages in 2012. POTUS has proven that he can handle his White House duties while still maintaining a twenty year marriage. The power couple met in 1989 at a law firm where Michelle O worked. After their first date, the one-day First Lady said they clicked and she was sold. From the looks of it, it appears as though she has been bearing arms and wearing her signature off-the-shoulder gowns since President Barack swooped her off her feet. Hats off the POTUS and FLOTUS!

Fashion maven Sarah Jessica Parker and actor, Matthew Broderick started dating in 1992 after having been introduced to one another in 1991 by Sarah’s brother. The couple got married on May 19, 1997 at a former synagogue in New York. Reverend Janet Broderick Kraft, Matthew’s sister served as the officiant. SJP wore a simple black dress with a moss-green crinoline underneath made by Morgane Le Fay. Parker later admitted to having regreted her choice of color. Despite the black dress, the couple is still going strong!

Gwen Stephanie and Gavin Rossdale wed on September 14, 2002 at St. Paul’s Church in London. Being the edgy trendsetter that she is, Gwen did not hesitate to express her style by way of her pink-and-white silk John Galliano custom gown. For their first anniversary, the couple returned to London’s St. Paul’s Convent Garden with the same car and driver they had on their wedding day. This couple now has two sons and, we can imagine the sense of style these young gents already have.

Can you believe that after all the hoopla, the most anticipated wedding of 2011, that of Prince William and Kate, has come and gone? These royals are already approaching their one year anniversary. Time sure does fly. The royal wedding took place on Friday, April 29, 2011 and, was viewed by the world over. There had been rumors of possible mini royals however, this never materialized. Darnit! Whatever they do, we’ll eagerly await and watch.
Finally, I couldn’t do a marriage milestone piece without pointing out my 13 years with my most incredible partner Matt. Many of you know him and or have seen him make cameo appearances on television with me. There is nobody like him and I am the luckiest person in the world to have found him. Thirteen years…. in heterosexual terms is three reincarnations with the same mate! Life is good!
We wish all the above couples more love, more laughter and many more years of marital bilss. If they and you have half the happiness I have in my life, you are in for a wonderful time!!
