Post Honeymoon Checklist

Officially a bride! Groom in hand! Sparkling diamond blinding people all around you? Now that you’ve gathered the essentials, I think it’s time for you to compile a post-honeymoon checklist because, yes, you are officially married and some important changes or updates, if you will, need to be made. Indeed, this could prove to be a tedious process, however it’s one that you will have to undergo. Okay-okay, because I’m such a gentleman, I’ll help jump start the list.

Contact the following with your change of name. (You can purchase a name change kit to assist you with the details).

  • Social Security Administration
  • United States Postal Office
  • Department of Motor Vehicles for Driver’s License
  • Passport Office
  • Human Resources Department of Your Employer
  • Credit Card Companies
  • Bank or Credit Union
  • 401 K or Retirement Plans
  • Voter Registration
  • Doctors
  • Dentists
  • Health Insurance Company
  • Life, Homeowner and Auto Insurance Companies
  • Mortgage Company
  • Clubs and Memberships
  • Frequent Flyer Cards of Your Regularly Traveled Airlines
  • Utility Companies
  • Attorney (any contracts you have in place as well as your will)

Review your wedding photography and return the images you want in your albums if that was part of your package.

Review the first draft of your wedding video and return it to the videographer with any editing requests.

Drop off your wedding gown for cleaning and preservation.

Write and mail thank-you cards to your guests and wedding vendors.

Return any borrowed items.

Send an announcement and photograph to your local newspaper’s wedding department.

Entertain the close family and friends that helped you during the wedding-planning process. You could host a dinner party or take a few at a time to dinner at a favorite restaurant. It is not necessary to thank them all at once, but you ought to gradually show them all how much you appreciate their support.
