Most normal, red-blooded little girls begin their wedding day countdown shortly after watching fairy-tales such as Cinderella et al. It is at this point that this same little girl begins her quest and the addiction to watch all things ending in ‘Happily Ever After’ that in turn, should hopefully translate into her very own-happily ever after.
For one such girl, this fairy-tale will come alive in a matter of days; three days, fifteen hours and twenty-seven minutes to be exact. With all eyes glued to the screen to witness the most anticipated wedding nuptials of the decade, The Royal Wedding. This little girl turned young lady and most importantly, soon to be princess, begins her countdown to marry a real-life prince.

Having survived nearly ten years of dating and one publicized break-up, William and Kate will seal the deal at the Westminster Abbey on Friday, April 29, 2011. This will mark The Abbey’s fifteenth royal wedding dating from as far back as November, 1100 when King Henry I of England married Matilda of Scotland.
By now, I expect all the T’s have been crossed and I’s dotted. After all, I wouldn’t expect anything short of perfection from such an elaborate affair for such a handsome couple like Wills and Kate. So how is everyone else planning on viewing this soon to be, most talked about event? I personally will be attending a watch party to help celebrate this fabulous occasion while chatting live on ivillage.com.
If you haven’t already planned on following suit, I suggest you gather some friends, a big screen TV, drinks and English inspired finger foods and have your very own royal ball! While this day will be business as usual in America, England will commemorate this day as a holiday. So, for those in the office on April 29, why not wear royal blue to work, arrange an English inspired potluck, sneak in some English draft beer (you didn’t hear that from me), log onto The Royal Channel on YouTube and voila, Bob’s your uncle!
Potluck ideas:
- Roast Leg of Lamb with Apricots
- English Spring Cabbage with Ginger Wine
- Roast Beef Tenderloin with Yorkshire Pudding and Beer-Glazed vegetables
- Lean Shepherd’s Pie
- Beer Batter Fish and Chips
Dessert:
- English Trifle (YUM!)
Most importantly, get to sleep early the night before. The nuptials begin promptly at 4:30AM Central Time!
