Dear Donnie:
I love your shows and watch them religiously to gather ideas and such. One thing that I find interesting is that the voice over says how much the wedding budget is but they never tell how that money breaks down into the various areas of the wedding. Can you explain to me why and how the wedding is so expensive? They are always beautiful but it is hard, from what they show, to see how it could cost that much. Please use my question as I am sure many of your fans have the same question.Your biggest fan,
Tara
Dear Tara:
I do appreciate your sending me this question. I have heard this before and am happy to discuss it. There are many aspects to a wedding that are not visible on the shows. For instance, you generally do not see the invitations (usually custom hand made), the guest rooms, transportation, the food, open bar service, the photography, the videogrpahy, etc. Additionally, there is my fee which is not visible, as well as travel expenses, rehearsal dinner, and the list goes on and on. I was recently reading one of the show’s fan sites and this question kept coming up from fans. I am really glad you asked so I could answer. The show really delves into what is visible such as decor and clothing, etc. They rarely get into the food (with the exception of the cakes) or the open bar, etc. There are so many details that go into a wedding that it would not be prudent to show it all when you only have about 20 minutes of on-air time. Thank you for your continued support and please ask questions any time.
Best regards from your friend,
Donnie
